Why not just punch a hole with your awl. the nib on the bit will catch it and center your bit perfect all by its self. all you have to do is get it close. I always use the awl with any type of bit and it will be alot more acurate.

I appreciate George’s tips and advice in these videos. Here he demonstrates the aftermarket laser-sight add-on.

One small quibble: I wish he would also include the price, set-up directions and where we can buy them.

Another important point: He should include accuracy specifications: Just HOW accurate is this thing? And, Isn’t the inherent accuracy affected by the user’s vision?

@HearMeComin thanks for responding two years later. If you are a woodworker without something as basic as an awl you need more help than any laser can give you. If more people had an icepick in there back pocket maybe there would be less poor craftsmanship out there.
