		<description>if you hook the motor up for 120 volts the minimum gauge should be 12. if it is hooked up at 220 volts 14 guage will work fine. 8 guage will handle about 45 amps. 12 is rated for 20 amps and 14 is rated for 15 amps. considering that the amp draw should not exceed 80% of the wires capability, that&#039;s how I got my answer.</description>
